I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Essex with over twelve years experience of teaching in higher education. The majority of my teaching experience has been at Masters level including research methods training and most recently medical and clinical education. I have delivered teaching on a wide variety of programmes including nursing, occupational therapy and clinical psychology, and at other institutions, on mindfulness, reflection, compassion and critical approaches to resilience.
I have had an interest in contemplative education since 2014 when I set up the Contemplative Pedagogy Network. It has been satisfying to see this international network grow and become a support and inspiration of contemplative educators working a wide variety of settings and contexts. In 2021 I stepped away from leading this network to allow more time to develop my on research and interests in the field. It is now being led by a team of engaged educators and going from strength to strength.
